I don't know aboiut pumps, but I had a very similar engine - apparently ex-WD - in the 1970's.
Mine was set up with a combination flat- and vee-belt drive with an integral centrifugal clutch so that it could be started with belts in place but off-load.
There are people with a lot of knowledge about these 'military' engines - so watch this space.
