Valuation for the insurance.

Post by rob needs »

I' sorted the insurance out with Footman James,it came to £157 95. for two motors. You also get the breakdown thrown in for this. But they sent forms to be filled in for valuation of the Javelin, did i read on here somewhere that the club can give a valuation if you send pics to them (or a club official)
Firebond wanted £188 for the two with no breakdown cover !

Insurance

Its tricky typing with everything being crossed to ensure you get the car running. However, I had a laid up policy with a company called Aon. The specialise in Classic and High performance cars. Follow up this link http://www.privateclients.aon.co.uk/pri ... assic.aspx. I have no connection other than a now closed policy with them.

She's got to start soon, don't give up.

The Camaro, $65,000 full cover is about $550
The Bradford $3500 full cover about $50
The Subaru Omega $1500 about $170
The Toyota $4500 about $300
And my sons Mitushihi (under 25yrs) $4500 nearly $1300.

All full cover.

They are all used daily

Alan,

Before the Club organised the Footman James Insurance option, I had used in the past "Vintage Car Insurance Associates" who are in Godalming in Surrey.

If they are now as they were when I was a client, then I suggest you at least approach them for a quote.

I have no personal connection to them, just offering another insurance avenue.

Tony.

Are you saying that although you are a member of the JCC, Footman James refused you insurance on your Jowett? I hope not!

You do not need a club valuation below £15000, they accept self valuation and photos.

Insurance

Post by Tony Fearn »

Alan,

I went to The Bradford Classic event yesterday along with several other Jowetteers, and I met a chap who started talking 'old car insurance'. To cut a long story short, he said that Footman James very occasionally insure people under 25 if a personal approach is made to the company's Classic Car Insurance Department. Now this may or may not be true. I have no knowledge of it.

But as a salutory warning about the "delights of internet quotes", I tell this little tale.

I have two (sometimes 3) Jowetts insured through the F.J. "Club policy" and the comprehensive premiums have always been within £20 or so of the £100 mark for the 2 (or 3).

I bought a 1962 Sunbeam Rapier IIIA in November 2005. Having had such a good deal on the Jowetts, I entered FJ's website and filled the on-line form for a quote for the car. £3,500 value, I was 61 years old, perfectly clean licence, no accidents, 3000 miles per year usage, wife and daughter as named drivers.

Pressed 'SEND' and the next day an email came from FJ with a premium quote.

£1,504.24

I rang FJ and spoke to a very nice lady in the Classic Car Insurance Dept., and asked if it was possible to add the Sunbeam to the Jowett Insurance which is renewed each August. No problem she said, and promised to look into it and email me a quote to do this.

The following day an email arrived, advising me of the additional premium needed, which would run until the following August (2006) - 9 months.

£36

So Alan, use the "old-fashioned method" - pick up the phone, ring mid-week and see what happens.

Also, if an official Valuation Certificate is needed, get in touch with Ian Priestley, the Club's Pre-war Registrar. Phone no. in Jowetteer 'Officer's list'.

Tony.
