Spent much of yesterday in my library sorting out books etc ( actially a corner cupboard in the bedroom ). I came across a 'working instructions ' booklet for the Jowett 4/5 KW charging set. It's probably wartime issue, 24 pages and in reasonable condition for its age. If anyone can offer it a loving stable home then I am happy to give it away. My phone no. is in the membership list..

That booklet sounds rare.
I would suggest that if you do (or even don't) give it to someone, you try to convince them that they should have it scanned and distribute a couple of copies around the club (JCC of UK librarian? for instance).
I suggest this because this very night I have been made even more aware of the value of digital copies of rare instruction books and manuals. I have been referring to the digital manual for the Borg Warner 35TA as fitted to my Princess . . . . I now have an excellent case for compensation of some sort to put to the professional gearbox man who has just made a fundamental “mistakeâ€

If this is a rarity then I think the best course of action for me is to send it to you for scanning to the gallery as you suggest and then for you to forward it to the club librarian, rather than have it go into some individuals collection.
I shall get it to you in the next few days.
Consider it now off the market !

He knows me well enough to tell me if any other Jowett stuff turns up !

I've not used the gallery, do I scan into my PC and then put the pictures in Gallery as I would when attaching to an EMail ?
Can you explain in terms understood by a computer simpleton.
I've got quite a lot of piccies in my Jowett memorabilia box.
I also have a rather nice cast iron, victorian street sign JOWETT'S PLACE complete with apostrophe. I liberated it from a slum demolition site about 30 years ago before it was weighed in for scrap. I can photo it and put it in gallery when I know how. It is about a metre long and weighs a ton!.

The main thing is to scan properly first. if it is B&W, set scanner for B&W text/line art with background removal and scan at 300dpi. I prefer to save as TIFF format as this can then be fed to the 'Transfer to Word' function using Optical Character Recognition.
Other option is to scan into pdf format. Do not scan as jpg, this is only for photos. Make sure you can read every word after scanning!
