Lubication Diagram
Has anyone got a copy fo a jowett lubirication diagram? Like one that shows where all the grease ports are ? Its for a 1934 Long Saloon 7, any help would be grateful.

Lubrication diagram.
Hello Alan.
There are 18 grease nipples as far as I remember.
Top and bottom kingpin bushes on each side.
Both ends of front brake actuating mechanism on front axle, each side.
Front brake cam at top of backplate, each side (- not too much or grease might go through to inside of brake drum and may contaminate shoes).
Steering box (reached from inside engine compartment)
Both ends of brake cross-shaft tube found under front of running boards.
Bottom of handbrake lever also accessible from under front running board on driver's side.
Both ends of rear brake activating cam - one nipple near backplate, other near spring on both sides of the car.
Will email a scan of lubrication chart as produced in 'The Autocar' of Aug 4th. 1933, page 184. It will be very similar to the 1934 car as far as lubrication goes.

Yes I have one somewhere.
It is A3 sized and framed. It used to be on the garage wall of the previous owner of my 1936 Kestrel. The diagram is not with me at present but I could maybe see about copying it sometime if you like. Give me an e-mail sometime.

Caution with the grease nipple on the steering box.....
This was for a grease gun filled with 90 gear oil NOT grease.
Using grease will wear out the pin and bush, causing undjustable play on the pitman arm.
As pressure against the sides of the shaft is applied, the geaese is forced away and dosent flow back, causing unlubicated surfaces.
Orginally there was a felt oil seal...
To stop leakage, I have turned out a seal grove in the bottom of the box to take a std sixe 1" x 3/4" x 1/4" oil seal.
