I found this article to be fascinating with a reasonably understandable explanation of what they were trying to do. The weight of a proton was somewhat wrong though... it is 1.6726 x 10 ^-27 kg.
I could not get the virtual reality playback working successfully.
I have passed the CERN facility a few times and watched numerous TV programs on it, but this was still worth the half hour of my time.

Agreed it was a good read. As there were several of us headed the Swiss tour who thought about visiting CERN, I thought it was worth posting. The embeded video showed 360* views of several sections of the facility and really, it just a lot of structures with wires, steel stairways and tons of cabling. Perhaps the article was a good substitute for a visit.
