Place to stay en-route

Post by Keith Clements »

Peter checked out this chateau on the way back from Peebles.

Le Clos Saint Georges

www.clos-st-georges.fr

10 rue de l Abbaye, 62860 Baralle
+33 3 21 24 87 40

He recommends .

There are many such chateau and this one is about 2 hours from Calais and 9 hours from Arbon, Switzerland so could form a stop over if you have limited time.

Goodwood Revival: September 7th  - 9th

Post by Keith Clements »

After weeks of speculation we can now reveal the provisional dates of the 2018 Goodwood Revival and Festival of Speed
Festival of Speed: July 12th - 15th
Goodwood Revival: September 7th  - 9th

The 2018 season looks to be the best yet as we celebrate 20 years of the GRRC and the 25th Anniversary of the Festival of Speed.

So those coming to these shores can now start planning flights and journeys to fit in with the TOPIC SWISS Rally 27th Sept to 1st Oct..

We must now wait to find out when Spa Classic will be.

Scott and I are starting to think of what to do.

Tentative plan is to travel to SPA to watch the Jup race the weekend after Goodwood. http://www.spasixhours.com/?lang=en
http://www.spasixhours.com/index.php/ti ... s/?lang=en

Then down the German /French border ( some great little roads) to the Bugatti collection in Mulhouse and on to Arbon. Visiting CERN on Wed 3rd after the Rally but we need to book...http://visit.cern/tours/guided-tours-individuals
then a few chateau , french food and wine up to Normandy.

Another route since we have some time is to join up with the other Jowetts in Innsbruck after a tour of Northern Italy.

Had a stroll up the road from our gite which later I had to drive up because Scott had lost his phone. Car now dusty.
Another day at the racetrack and then today drove down to Riquewihr over the Col de Bonhomme. One i traversed on a Monty Carlo rally on the snow.

Phone found later next to the battery which was charging.

Off to see the Schlumpf collection tomorrow.

Washed car at top of Simplon pass using alpine stream water after 17k ride through alps on Kanderstag to Goppenstein train. The pass tested the cooling system as there were frequent roadwork halts and 30c air temp with blazing sun. It had to be clean for Italy and was immediately admired by the locals and tourists outside our hotel in Baveno on Lake Maggiore.

Morning spent servicing car. We had a puncture so Scott tried a couple of tyre places and then rolled the wheel to a a shop that found a pin hole in the tube. New tube fitted and hole repaired for spare. Also fixed a dodgy earth on the overdrive.
Planned route to Merano tomorrow via St Moritz and the Stelvio.
