Thanks Keith - this is a good tip - I picked it up from your restoration thread and bought the gauze you suggested. A 5 minute job to replace once you have the sump off.

Hi all,

The squishy rubber seals for the tops of the Javelin air intakes come from JCS without, the very necessary, stainless steel gauze inserts at the tops.

If you are looking for a source of the gauze, I can suggest you seek out your nearest Ikea and buy a frying pan splash guard. From memory of the last time I needed one, it was less than £1 and will be a source of lots of discs. They can be cut out with sharp scissors.

Of course, this entails negotiating the Ikea 'maze', so you need to allow plenty of time! Also, if accompanied by partner or wife, you will need a large trolley!

All the best,

David
