What a good find! The Jupiter might well be my father's car KER437 - I think that the edge of the 3 might just be visible -or is that my vivid imagination? At one time the car was two-tone blue. Hard to tell since old black and white film does strange things to colours.
Any more clues?

And masses more pictures of Jowetts in competition on the same site:
http://library.revsinstitute.org/digita ... erm/jowett
Has anyone been through them all and noted all the registration numbers?
My personal favourite is the one of Marks' Jupiter showing massive oversteer in a race in the US. I would be interested to know whether the MGTD avoided him!

I have captioned some 20,000 pictures at Revs. Note the collection is at a new address:
http://library.revsinstitute.org/digital/
Where possible I always record the registration number - you can search by registration number - so you can quickly ascertain whether a particular car is in the database.
Try it! GBU 392 works like a charm!
#58 at Prescott certainly looks like a two-tone car.

Re: Prescott Hill Climb, Sept 14th 1952
Update - a little research reveals that the Jupiter pictured at Prescott is likely to be KDA937 rather than KER437. This car is mentioned as the Prescott car in Ed Nankivell's original Jupiter book on page 75 and in the car index as E2/SA/748R. I assume therefore that there is other evidence beyond the photo on Revs to link the car to Prescott.
Is it a coincidence that both cars have similar registrations and both sported two-tone colour schemes -which were not factory standard?

The 'other' evidence is supplied by Paul Gibbons, Archivist - Bugatti Owners' Club - from the programme/results for the meeting at Prescott Hill Climb, Sept 14th 1952. RGDS RLT

Thanks Rupert -I actually meant other evidence for KDA937 being linked to Prescott/Ian Sievwright -since this is in Ed Nankivell's book, yet the Revs photo does not show the full numberplate.
On a different topic, I was fascinated to see that the Le Mans Jupiters are shown fitted with what look to be Marchal headlamps rather than the usual Lucas pf770s (I had previously noticed this was the case on the Farina cars). Presumably they are superior -does anyone know which model of lamp this was?

Ian Sievwright must have been a B.O.C. member - either he or a relative had a Bugatti described as a "beautiful blown 2-litre G.P. Bugatti" also as the ex-Neill Bugatti.
If he appeared at Prescott with a Jowett Jupiter at other meetings Paul Gibbons would know about it.

I have discovered that #56 Jowett Jupiter at Prescott was registered LDT 3.
Source: "A History of SPORTS CARS, G.N. Georgano, E.P. Dutton & Co., Inc. New York 1970.
There is a photograph on Page 230.
Georgano says on Page 229: "A total of 1,200 Jupiters were made." How many are known to survive?
(An article in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette from 1991 gives a figure of 370 surviving Jupiters.
Says only 960 Jupiters were made, 150 approx exported to the U.S.A.)

Chatting with Ed, he believes 901 Jupiters made and just over half survive. Number on the road guestimate 200-300 ish. This was a couple of years ago and we are probably gaining more than we are losing. (More restorations than scrapping).
Compliments of the Season,
