Ladies and Gents, In the depths of my memory there is a warning bell ringing saying that certainly for Javelins and Jupiters it is not safe to shot blast the wheel rims (cos the grit gets in between the two faces and continues to wear away the surfaces, whilst the wheel revolves, even after it has been cleaned up. I may be wrong of course. But if I am right, does this apply to Bradfords too?

After shot blasting use the air gun to clean it out then a wire brush, then some panel cleaner then a few coats of paint and I do not think you will have an issue.

Hi all,

Why not get them powder coated afterwards? It looks great and cleans up well. My ones have never given problems with sealing after being coated.

Alastair - I have had loads of Jowett wheel rims shot blasted without issue - for the blasting media to create any problems i.e. further wear the wheel centre would have to be loose from the rim for the friction to occur - powder coating is fine if your car is a basic solid colour - however if the vehicle has a metallic paint finish then the rims will require spraying with the vehicle body colour has powder coating can not match metallic paint finishes.
