Peter discovered we left out two (only two you say ) bolts whilst assembling the JowettFix kit at the Resto show . These clamp the rear of the front spring arm to the chassis (item 2194 Torsion rod Adjusting Anchor Bracket assembly( I am sceptical that this is the correct description as the adjustment is further back along the chassis!)). The parts list ambiguously lists as item 1120 FB105/10 so I sent Peter such in the post. These were wrong and on further investigation on Amy's Jav I found they were a 3/8 BSF x 1+3/8 long bolt with a double height head. The double height is not really necessary and standard set screw will do ( a bolt may not have enough thread). So a second mailing sent him a pair of these. Part Item 1120 FB105/10 Part Item 2194
Since these bolts are quite unusual it is frustrating that they were not in the left-over pile at the end of the rebuild and I do not have any in my stock (at least that are easily accessible)
Interesting! Mine seem to work slightly loose every 1000 miles or so and lead to a 'groaning' noise on arm deflection. Tightening cures the noise. I suppose the double height heads are there to avoid the curve of the casting?

Hello David
Sorry but I'm not sure which bolts we are talking about. I'd be very grateful if you could let me have further info perhaps a pic.
I think it might help others too who are also not sure!
Sorry to bother you!
All the best
David,
Yes Peter had that groaning noise at Goodwood. I spent a couple of hours under the car in a farmyard trying to find out what it was. Next time I will look at those bolts.
Carburretors fixed... 2 screw fittet BSF not metric!!!

Interesting those holes must have been fitted aftermarket as all Zenith threads are metric.
I cannot remember removing them since they were on my car. Pictures show they were only fitted to one side when the engine was in the SA.
Perhaps a New Zealand mod?

There is no reason to have a choke cable securing bracket as there is no choke cable on a Javelin going to the carb. It is operated by wires from the arm behind the radiator. Anyhow there was only a bracket on one carb and that must have been taken off sometime during its fitting into Rhowina. The fact that they were BSF suggests it was something done for some other UK manufacturer and Jowetts just used the carb.
Good that it is fixed now and certainly explains the poor starting. They would not affect normal running. When in my car the engine had one carb functioning on choke which was enough.
