KHR 73

Post by Wendy »

I am interested to source any information regarding

Re 1953 standard Javelin
KHR 73
colour cream
with delux interior plus dash board

This was my father's car - he purchased this from Drumond Black in 1969 & sold it around 1975 to someone in Aberdeenshire area. I contacted Javelin register several years ago = no recent history & Drumond Black who knew of the new owner at that time was only aware it was for sale several years later.
This was the car I learned to drive in. It was not in immaculate condition when sold but I remember Dad saying new owner planned to restore the car.

I would really like to hear any known history & its possible where abouts. Of course it may have been scrapped but since it is a late model it might have been stored away some where?

Best wishes
Wendy

Wendy - The car is registered with DVLA and is currently listed with the correct details / colour etc - which suggests that it is still out there somewhere

Hi Chris,

That is certainly encouraging - I am a very sentimental soul
I did a search on DVLA site a while back - but came back not listed contact DVLA. I wrote to them but received standard letter stating not able to give details etc.
I know if it was still around - I would probably want to buy it.

If you do ever here anything more about the car - grateful if you let me know

Many thanks
Wendy

Hi Peter,

Just back from South West Scotland visiting Dad. I was checking my e-mail up there & your enquiry was forwarded to my email. I did reply but no signs of this on this web page -so not sure whether you received? Dad seemed really pleased to hear car still exists. From what you are saying sounds like car kept in moth balls for 42 years & amasing to think its been in Aberdeenshire area all this time. We were living at the Bridge of Don in 1970's

I will have a hunt around for any photos. Dad bought car from Drumond Black around 1969 & sold it around 75-76. It was the car I learned to drive in so holds some significance to me. Dad spent many an hour on the car which kind of irritated my mother and so it was reluctantly sold.

I would love to see any current photos

Best wishes
