Carburettor threads

Post by Forumadmin »

Does anyone know the what the threads are on the 30 VM and 30VIG carburettors, please? For example the petrol input to the float chamber, the two bolts holding the chamber, the slow running air bleed screw, the (5) jets.

I have a number of carbs with one or more of these threads needing attention, so once identified, I would then either need taps and dies and/or Helicoils. So if anyone knows a source for these please speak up!

The other possibility is to use a plastic metal filler or thread locking substance. Has anyone used these successfully for repairing threads? One issue is to prevent the good thread from adhering to the repair substance.

From my notes a long time ago; don't remember if I measured or if someone told me.
Float chamber bolts 7mm x 1.0
Idle screw 5mm x .75
Banjo bolt Unknown x 1.25

Not sure that helps all that much, as I'm sure you measured and posted because the above is too easy!
