I've done a search, thinking that this topic had come up before but to no avail.
Has anyone come across a source of supply for the tappet cover felts for Javelins please? Or an alternative for the felts.
Thanks
Paul

Re: Tappet cover felts
Hello:
Try furniture stores selling felt pads for furniture feet, although most will have adhesive backing. Here in the States, felt can be had in all forms from Mcmaster.com. Perhaps there is an equivalent retailer in the UK?
Cheers,
Scott

I assume they are available from JCS, if not Bill Lock has them.

Hi Paul.
If JCS or Bill can't supply:-
What do they look like?
How thick are they?
What area of felt would you need to make one up? - length x width (in inches please)
I have the remnants of some felt, maybe around 3/16" thick, which I bought to make the rear axle seals of my pre-wars.
There might be enough left for you to be able to make up a pair.
Tony.

Re: Tappet cover felts
I will get exact dimensions one day but they are about 1 inch square and 1/4inch thick loose woven felt or horsehair. For the Saharan rally I fixed windscreen washer tube into the aperture with silcone and ran the tubes into a small air filter giving a much larger surface area of filter. This is because it is most important not to let the air flow be blocked. In dusty conditions the felts can block up in a day.
