Hi folks, I have been a member of a Jowett car club off & on for forty years, Some of the people who were members when I joined ,are still members.
So my question is , who has been a member of a Jowett car club the longest?
Good memories of Bradfords.

Tony Fearn must be a front runner. We both joined more or less at the same time ? 1962 in the early days of the northern section.

If I remember rightly this was as a result of an advert in the Manchester Evening News for would be members of the northern section of the ''Southern Jowett Car Club'' to meet up in Stockport for a run to Chatsworth House in Derbyshire. AS Tony and I were the only twin pot men, he in May Ellen and I in a Bradford we were given a 20 minute start on the Javelins & Jupiters!!. Also there were Bob Mercer, David Ellis, Kathy Watson (Fishwick) and others,

Tony ( and Mary Ellen) have enjoyed continuous membership whereas I have had a number of reincarnations!

Bill Purves was another contender when this came up at the Basingstoke Rally, I can't remember the exact detail but I do remember Tony and Bill cutting a 90th Anniversary cake. I might have had a few beers that evening.

Edit - he wasn't at the rally, but I think Wes Meneely has been a member of the club since before even Tony and Bill, might even be 1950s. Keith might be able to confirm.

Jack.

I think it was you, George (unless my memory is playing tricks!) who persuaded my late father William (Bill) Wilks to join the then Northern Section of the SJCC, I still have his SJCC car badge. I think we were on holiday at the time. He bought his metallic blue PE Javelin in 1959 and according to old membership records he joined in 1962. I recall attending meetings with Ken Lees (David Morris owns one of his Javelins), David Ellis with Kay, Kathy Watson.

The Jowett Car Club of Australia was founded in 1957 by John Coffey. John was a very active life member of the club until he passed away on 20th January, 2010. Thus John was a member of a Jowett Car Club for nearly 53 years! John's Javelin is still owned by a member of our club - his daughter, Liz Morley (nee Coffey).

I cannot claim continuous membership , but I joined the SJCC in 1957 or 1958 having bought VTW333 in 1957. I sold it in 1959 and left the club but rejoined in the 1980s having bought PPP 714--still in the JCC--and then joined again when I bought PHU317 . I used the SJCC to locate a replacement crankshaft when mine broke on the A30 ! Bob
