Broken piston ring..

Post by rob needs »

I'v gone and broke the top ring on a piston (taping it in when the ring wasn't compressed enough).

It has 73.94 St, stamped on the top. Could i buy one of these somewhere local,i see Bill Lock has some.

I'v done the same years ago, and it was cheaper to buy a complete piston back then.

I,v bought a full set of piston rings off e-bay.I reccon the pistons are Fiesta ones in the car, i have a bill from 1990 for a full set of pistons,1 set of teflon buttons and 1 set of liners. The rings i'm buying are Fiesta std size, and the same measurement as is stamped on top the cars piston.

Broken Piston Ring

Post by David Morris »

Hi Rob,

I hope it proves to be useful but I have posted you a spare ring. It's used, I am afraid, and not in the best condition possible, but should clean up, if it is any use to you.

It came off a STD piston, so may be too small, if you are using oversize pistons.

Anyway, let's hope you can make use of it, as I know how annoying breaking a ring can be!

All the best,

David
