Vintage (dubious) rad. badge

If you have a drill, fine files and plenty of patience, and you need one, then have a look at this, as it seems to have been cast in brass, but not fettled.

P.S. I think 1 inch is about 2.54 centimetres,

I reckon very dubious! If it has been cast from a real one as a pattern it will also be approx 2.5% small due to contraction shrinkage.
1 inch is exactly 2.54cm! :)

That "thing" on eBay is nowhere near correct: just to remind everyone what an original nickel-plated vintage badge looks like -
DSC05449_s.jpg
It measures exactly 176 mm across (from the start of the "J" to the final pointed tip). This converts to 6.9291". The advert on eBay says approximately 10 cms (100 mm), which is far too short.

Mike Allfrey had accurate reproductions cast & nickel plated back in 2008 for use on the 2008 JCCA National Rally trophies, and they looked absolutely perfect.

Cheers,

Andrew
