My Dads old Jowett Javelin

My Dad, Alan Squire had a number of Jowetts over the years when we where in England. This one is pictured at Cleethorpes on one of our holidays, probably in the late sixties. We moved to Australia from Stapleford near Nottingham in 1971. Dad sold the Jowett and a large number of parts when we emigrated. I was wondering if anyone could tell me more about the car.

It is possible that members of the forum will have some info, but we always love an old Javelin photo

Do you have any other images or information from the car? Hard to make out what colour it is from the photo, if you know this it might help jog a memory or two if the car is not currently on the road.

GYS is a Glasgow registration in use in 1949/50. On a quick look I could not see any Javelins registered GYS in the 2008 register , but did spot a Bradford GYS which may have come from the same dealer. Bob

The reg is not in the Scottish Section register done in 2012.

In that case it is --or was --a D9PA, probably a deluxe by its looks, registered in late 1949. Last heard of near Nottingham in 1971, 40+ years ago . Best bet is via Eden Lindsay and searching through old Jowetters, was it sold to a member ? Bob

GYS595 was a 1949 PA Javelin, it was dispatched by Jowett's to the Jowett agents Stobcross Engineering Works, Glasgow on 1st September 1949 and was chassis number D9/PA/4798.
The car was originally Black with Beige Leather trim.
