Jupiter weight

Post by David Kemp »

What does a Jupiter weigh"
? Wikipedia says not much less than a Javelin approx 960kg, it seems a bit nonsenseical that an alloy bodied sports car weighs the same as a steel bodied four door saloon.
Good memories of Bradfords.

An Autocar Road test said 2121 lb with 5 gallons of fuel. A Motor road test said 21.25 cwt, which I make 2380 lb. Also a Motor road test of a Javelin quoted 21.5 cwt.

Having moved a jupiter chassis, body panels and other bits, I can see the difference being minimal between them - the aluminium is thicker than javelin steel, and there is a fair bit of steel in the jupiter chassis that the javelin replaces with bodywork and thinner steel.

Most of the really heavy bits are common to both, Engine, axles, gearbox, wheels and tyres etc.
