Hello all,
I have recently purchased a Bristol tractor with a 4 cylinder Jowett engine. I need some general information, firing order etc, and also does anyone have an engine that I could buy some spares?? I need a dog for the starting handle. I also need a bypass oil filter.
Please let me know.

Hi Laine,
Welcome to the forum.
Are you a JCC member? If not, I would join to enable you to buy spares from Jowett Car Spares. They may well be able to help with some of these items.
I would have thought that engine being comparatively rare will be a challenge to find parts, but some of our prewar experts hopefully will be along to advise.
Jack.

Welcome to the website. As Jack says, join the club and that will give you access not only to spares but also the company's records as we have a dedicated Registrar for stationary engines and tractors.
You could also keep an eye on this forum for details of local Section meetings to which - even as a non member - I am sure you would be very welcome.
There are quite a few Jowett tractors around and there is even ast least one that is not a 'crawler', but you might find out more when you join the club!
Either way, keep 'us' informed of your progress - there is a certain pleasure to be derived from watching other people's problems at a distance, as long as they are not too serious!
