White Lucas dynamo
In disassembling Jup 822, I have found the generator was originally white or ivory. I have seen b&w photos of dynamos in books where the unit is definitely not black and recall that Ted Miller thought the factory "show" cars had white dynamos. So, what is the correct color for the Jupiter dynamo?

Re: White Lucas dynamo
So a little more time wading through the fog of the internet brought some enlightenment.
Lucas Special Service dynamos were nickel-plated until 1953/4, when they were painted a light grey.
In looking at photos in Edmund's first book, it is plain to see that the dynamos are not black, but some lighter shade.
In examining the photos of the ex-Surtees Coachcraft bodied Jupiter for sale, the dynamo can be clearly seen. https://www.silverstoneauctions.com/ima ... 168/10.jpg
Looks like it could be nickel, but there is a good bit of rust showing. The philips head screw looks out of place!
