Sparking Plugs

Post by Keith Clements »

Originally fitted Champion L10 S (superceeded by L87YC), alternatives Bosch W8 AC (or W6 BC), KLG F70 (Water Proof – WF 70), AC 45F, recommend NGK BP5HS or Denso W16FP-U.

14mm ,1/2" Reach,13/16" Hex. Note the N9YC at 3/4" Reach is not suitable, as it may hit the valves and may run too hot being further into the hot gas.

Could try L82YC or BP6HS which is a cooler plug as NGK say going one level cooler will remove 100c from the cylinder head to the cooling system. Better for high speed motoring.
Read more:

If you suffer from plug fouling then get a hotter plug. (BP5) (L87YC) or even hotter L92YC but first fix your carburation!
If you have run-on etc then a cooler running plug may be better.(BP6) or (BP7) even cooler L78YC but first check your ignition and valve timing.

Note resistor versions for interference supression are available QXXXX refer tohere.
