Whilst on the way to the Auckland Club meeting we surprised Neil Moore so that I could see the CD.
A few pics of the car and engine which should be of interest are followed by some of the North Island parts store and club shed.
Hopefully you can thumb through the pics on One Drive here.
There are scroll arrows on the pictures that allow you to navigate through them.
You may like to right click on the link to open a new window rather than being lost forever in the Cloud.
If you click on the picture it will bring up the high resolution version. You can then scroll through these in full screen mode to get a real experience.

Re: Neil Moore CD and North Island"shed"
presumably to CD 17 engine in the photos is the one with a papier mache ( or whatever 0 dummy cylinder and head on one side?? If not it must be the only complete Cd engine in existence. The car itself as pictured looks to be the only survivor not modified to take the 4 cylinder motor as the battery mounting is on top of the 'Forth Bridge'' where the radiator was on the 4cyl and there is also evidence of it having had the correct front mounted rad . It also has the long central gear leaver which I think was replaced by the Javelin column change on the CD's fitted with the 4 cyl motor.
It would be nice to dream that this vehicle could be returned to the UK and restored maybe to exhibit in Bradford Industrial museum even if it only had a dummy side to the engine. It was probably the last Jowett to be built at Idle and the only CD to original spec.
Could Morrisons be persuaded to sponser i.e. pay for its return and restoration.???????????????????????

Re: Neil Moore CD and North Island"shed"
Hopefully the guys closer to the action will reply. The Auckland guys/gals were/are planning to rebuild but my understanding is there was not concensus on how to rebuild so the job was taken on by Neil. The engine does indeed have a non-metal part.
It is a dilemma as to whether to leave as is, preserve, restore, replace or modify in such a situation. In some archaealogical restorations, the new and old are clearly distinguishable making it good for both the historians and the artists amongst us. Personally I do not like the modern being presented as if it was as it came out of the factory, and like to see it as it is now, albeit complete and in the right place. My imagination can recreate what it likes and does not need help from others.
