Re: Four cylinder
the Jason and Jupiter saloons were announced ion the Autocar of 20 Oct 1935 for the 1936 model year and a raod test of the Jason was included in the Autocar of nov 15th 1935, The hastily revamped peregrine and plaover were announced in the Light Car March 27th 1936 (same chassis as Jason & Jupiter) . The 8 & 10 was announced in Autocar oct 2 1936 for the 1937 model year.
As far as I am aware the last 1940 model was completed in March 1940 but I don't know whether this was an 8 or a 10. this info is from the veteran and vintage magazine - date unknown - The Jowett Story by Morris Smith an ex employee who started as an apprentice in 1921 and who was a good friend of Horace Grimley.
''..as late as March 1940 we were still making motor cars---in fact it was Easterwhen I assembled my last synchromesh gearbox and cleared the bench ....''
Horace Grimley mentioned much the same to me in the early 60's

Re: Four cylinder
David - I presume you were meaning the production flat fours as of course there were the earlier prototype in line IOE 1.5 litre fours that didn't see production

Re: Four cylinder
Yes the production flat fours. I have only seen a photos of them, & often wondered why more weren't built or survive.
Good memories of Bradfords.

Re: Four cylinder
David,
A number of Tens were imported to Australia around 1936/7 by the Jowett agent in Perth ( I think) and were bodied locally. These could have been the last peregrine chassis as they had that models radiator surround. There may have been some later Tens imported as well. Some have survived in New Zealand.
As to why the ten was not more popular I expressed my views on that subject in a 2 part article in Joweteer Nov and Dec 2011 copies of which are available on the gallery of this forum
