Hi all
I've seen a Jowett Javelin for sale in a village of Toledo, south of Madrid. He says the engine is griped, I hope that does not relate to non-rotating ...

3300 pounds is a very high price for a jav under these conditions?
Greetings!

Assuming it is original, the bumper has a ridge along and I think this indicates one of the early (3000ish?) models.
Price is certainly high for a UK car but what is the market like in Spain?
Still, we may soon have another member in Iberia! Good news!

The Spanish market is not usually jowett models, that is true, years ago we saw a Jav with engine would not turn, and totally rotten sheet with a retail price of 6000 € non negotiable.
It is a problem of lack of information about this model, 50´s, English, and thought it was selling an Aston Martin or Austin Healey.
I'll go see him for a subject of curiosity, nothing to lose.

A seized engine does not take that much off the price really, if the rest of the car is good. The value of a car is really in the steel work and interior as not many people value the mechanical bits. Of course, to rebuid mechanical items properly does cost a lot, but most people skimp on these as they may be only planning to do a hundred, sedate miles a year.
I thought about using the word 'cost' rather than 'value' above, as what I meant to say is that, if the steelwork is bad, it does not matter how good the paint job is, the car will start to deteriorate the first time it gets wet. Then you will need to do a complete strip down and paint job to get a decent car. However, still enjoy a Jowett that is not perfect. as that is 98% of us have been doing for years.
