I have a number of images of two tone Javelins on file. Could someone give me an "Idiots Guide" on how to attach images to reply (make it really easy, please!) and I will send them.

Thanks

I have two pictures of Australian two tone Javelins, and the upper colour is above the bright metal strip. One has the trunk painted the upper colour and one doesn't. I have a signed copy of "Auto Architect" and there aren't any pictures of a two tone Javelin in mine. I have three other Jowett books, and no two tone Javelin pictures.
Was two tone paint a factory option?

My copy is a 2004 edition which has "added material " by Christopher Balfour who helped GP with the original edition. It says extra pictures have been added . The two tone version in this edition has the roof , B and C pillars down to the top of the door panels , boot lid surround and probably the lid itself ,in the darker colour which does not come down to the chrome strip. The bonnet is in the lighter colour as are the screen pillars . I would imagine Jowett in 1948 toyed with the two tone idea, it was a common feature among competitor companies at the time . Were there any sales brochures with it ? Personally I think the two tone was more suited to the "3 box " styling of many contemporaries than to the curves of the Javelin .

The picture above from Chris is an export model judging by the number plate and is it LHD and where? Bob

Peter would like the car in two tone paint so quite a bit of research has been undertaken (and continues) - do we finish the upper colour at the bulk head and paint the bonnet in the lower colour (50's US styling) or paint the bonnet in the upper colour, do we use the darker colour on the lower sections & lighter colour on the upper or vice versa - if you have any images of existing Jav's in two tone - could you please post them to this thread ? It may just influence the style / colourways that we apply to the car :D Thanks
I think that it would look a bit odd with the paint stopped at the bulkhead - the bonnet should be same colour as the roof in my opinion.

My vote would go for the lower colour dark, and the upper colour light.

I haven't a photo of a two-tone Javelin, but my Rapier is two-tone green.

I must say I prefer the single colour ,but if not using the chrome strip as the divider looks best . Also lighter colours seem more attractive .I like the Fearn Rapier , I had a 1960 Series 2 with the fins soon after I parted with Javelin No 1 . It was a good reliable sports saloon , the lower colour was "moonstone " --white -- and the top was "morocco" a sort of brown , very attractive , in those days I think they were all 2 colour ,it suited well. Plenty of choice for the Javelin ! Bob

Repair section tacked

Welded in & cleaned up - aerial hole was also welded up at this stage - the wing was then removed and the flange dressed - minor fettling is all that's now required to get the aperture gapping correct

With the wing off any captive nuts were checked and had a tap run through them - several dead ones were found were the thread was stripped, captive cage rusted away or the fastening missing completely - these areas were cleaned up - checked for alignment on the inner wing and new nuts retained by captive cages were spot welded in to place

A previous repair became obvious on the underside of the wing - this metal patch was held by weld in the centre but with all sides open rust had formed between the two skins

Paint removed to reveal a large area of body solder on the outer side

Fresh metal let in and cleaned up - just a little more shaping to do with the hammer & dolly to complete

I don't know why my pictures were deleted by Imageshack, but they are both in my gallery section:

Not quite happy with the aperture gaps yet so off came the wing

Building up of the wing edge with weld prior to dressing back in order to perfect the gapping
