Paul Wilks Shortlisted for Classic Car of the Year

Post by robert lintott »

Entered in the preliminary stage is Paul Wilks distinctive Javelin ,so we may yet get another Jowett in to the voting stage . Congrats to Paul and keep fingers crossed! Bob
To vote you go here. http://ccoty.co.uk/bgbt_voting.php.

Time to pull out all the stops, we need to get everyone we possibly can voting. Do not vote for any other car but the Javelin, we have ways of finding out!

Congratulation to Paul, on his Javelin getting into the Top 20. Come on club, lets see if we can get another successful year at the Nec, a fantastic opportunity. Have just placed my vote.

Well done Paul, nice car, great story, great colour :)

I've voted. Important note for everybody, you can ask members of your household to vote for Paul's car, but you need to do so from a different IP address. That means ask them to vote from their work, or to use a mobile to vote, or they won't be able to get their vote cast.

It is ok to vote for other cars we love, and I'm sure everyone has a second favourite to the Yellow Peril, just don't go too mad with it :D

Keith, can you edit the title of the thread so that it is a bit more visible? "Paul Wilks Shortlisted for Classic Car of the Year" might do ;)

I love this competition, now let's make it a hat trick of Jowett winners to show the magazines and public at the NEC what a club we've got here.

Jack.

Good to see Jack's comment 'It is ok to vote for other cars we love, and I'm sure everyone has a second favourite to the Yellow Peril, just don't go too mad with it'

I haven't seen any post from him yet, but Roger Learmonth - owner of a very smart Bradford lorry that took part in the Lord Mayor's Show a couple of years back - has had his Auburn shortlisted too.

As it is permitted to vote for a number of cars, perhaps some members would also like to support Roger in his efforts?

PS The Auburn looks smashing, and it is just as nice 'under the skin'!
The devil is in the detail!

I was on holiday when news of the short-listing came through! You cannot imagine my surprise! Those who know her will realise that in comparison to many many Javelins "Yellow Peril" has many, how shall I say this? shortcomings. The competition looks very good. But I am sure we will do our best (like good Boy Scouts and Girl Guides).

It is an honour to be even nominated, let's face it.

Thanks

Paul

Paul - The advantage of this competition is that it is awarded on number of votes and not on who has access to a large pot of cash to throw at a classic car restoration - to date no car that has been the subject of a professional restoration has won the award (although many have entered and got to the final stages). You deserve the shortlisted place for your sheer determination to keep the car on the road over the years - restoring it when time / funds allow. What is critical is the fact that every vote counts - you need to badger anyone - and I mean anyone that you have any connection with - to vote for you - it maybe worth having a conversation directly with Jack - he holds a vast knowledge of how this comp works - Good luck

Chris is right , every vote for you , Paul , counts . If someone wants you to win and votes for you and for one or more other entries it reduces your chance of winning , even though they might like to support their other friends . We need to get messages on the Jowett site, in Jowetteer, section websites , newsletters etc . Good luck Bob

Good job everyone. Remember to remind every club member you see in the next few weeks, ask them if they have voted - if they don't have a computer ask their kids or grandkids to vote on their behalf, but looking at the membership list those without an e-mail address seem to be a minority these days.

I have sent a note to the Jowetteer so hopefully everyone will get the message in time - the competition shortlist always seems to be announced after the publication date and closed before the next one hits the doormat, but perhaps not this time!

Remember that members can encourage others there and then to vote using smartphones or other devices, so don't be afraid to help others to join in at shows over the next few weeks.

And well done Paul for your hard work getting the entry in and getting shortlisted - this is a competition open to almost any car across the UK and beyond, and to have a Jowett chosen again is a huge achievement already.

Jack.
