Done...M8, who owns the workshop I use...
Said
Disconect the battery,
Disconnect the coil,
Diisconnect the Generator
Remove the fan belt (Thats the hard part..Bradfords has no FAN belt :D) So removed the gererator belt instead.
With jumper leads, connect the -ve to the Generator body
Put a long screw driver in the +clamp of the jumper leads.
Touch the feild and Power terminals at the same time, dont worry about the little sparks, and let the generator turn over like a electeriv motor for 1/2 to 1 minute.

Reconnect generator terminals
Connect coil terminals, swaped around
Reconnect battery (may need new terminals as batteries have diff size for +ve and -ve
Put fan Belt back on.
Check lights, see if Ammeter reads wrong way.
Turn over engine.
Fire up

The ammeter should have terminals swapped aropund to read the right way

I will do this next time I need to put the dash out for something else.

Now I can connect the Radio up.

Thanks guys
Steps

Turn the battery around, hook body to -ve

who is M8?
He did his time on Austins...moved to workshop manager for Austin/Morris franchise, then they also got the honda franchise, Now has own workshop with mechanics (Tradesmen) Quaildied Aprenice trainer,,,and has one of highest WoF audit ratings (see other posts)
Is the only person in 27 yrs I will let near the Camaro...and dont question.
put a full power feed from the battery to run it up like a electric motor will in most cases not polerise the dynamo.
In all cases for nearly 40 yrs...never had a generator not polierise

Putting current to the feild canbe case problems...He did explain.
As far as heat goes there was none.
Some export models had fans from memory?
U mean generator fan or radiator fan?
Some here have a fan fitted, Ex factory or aftermarket I dont know.
The ones that have a fan , they are next to useless, a fan without a shroud has too much splliage off the ends of the blades to be effective.

I have often sat in heavy rush hr traffic with the bradford, up to several hrs.
Also have hauled slow up big hills Nps.

To Quote a very Respected Braddy man here...when I asked about this, tmp gauge etc
"A sytem well maintained and in good order will NEVER have problems"

A system not maintained not in good order sure a fan will help by moving air randomly around the enginge compartment...but thats a 'patch fix'
Not a practice Im into.

Fans, unless shrouded are near to useless..basic Air flow technoloy...been there done that. Have a look at your cpu and case fans in your computer, electic fands on jappas etc...no shroud at the tip of the fans means bugga all air is moved in the direction intended.
