Javelin restoration head count
It would appear there are several Javelins undergoing in depth restorations - so could we have a head count - to kick off:
Peter Pfisters - 1950 Javelin - Currently undergoing a full restoration in the hands of Clements / Spencer / Moon
Jack Moon's - JKU 777 - Ex works experimental Javelin - Restoration commenced but presently sidelined
Leeds City College - Has the ex late Derek Hawkins Javelin - Restoration commenced
Mosier Jnr- Is in the final stages of his Javelin restoration over in Spain
Jaybee - Has GAK 169 - Under restoration up in Scotland
Any more want to add theirselves to the list ? - Mr Wilks do you consider your Javelin now as rolling restoration project ?? - if so please yourself to the list
And the great thing about all the above projects - they are all listed on Jowett Talk - we are all learning from each other - helping out where we can / advice / comments / contacts or just moral support - Exactly like a club should be run !!

Hi Chris. No, my Javelin is not a "rolling restoration project". After being laid up for about 34 years (and I believe this is not a record!) she returned to the road two years ago. She was seen at the rallies 2011 at the National Heritage Centre and 2012 at Llan Wells as well as the North West Section trip to the Isle of Man in 2011. She was used as the bridal car at our daughter's wedding in June last year. I have also 'flown the Jowett flag' at a variety of local events- Speke Hall, near Liverpool, Llangollen Railway, 60th anniversary of the Runcorn- Widnes Bridge Classic Car convoy etc.
She is known- by me anyway- as the Yellow Peril.

It is probably worth putting any questions you have here on JowettTalk and even copying the thread from Facebook here or in the Gallery. That way you are more likely to get a response from Jowett owners. Having it on Facebook as well (and in Spanish) does find a new audience. Please feel free to add Spanish questions and answers on JowettTalk as having both languages can help with understanding. Correcting translations helps build up our vocabulary of mechanical terms.

De esa manera tienen más probabilidades de obtener una respuesta de los propietarios de Jowett. Tenerlo en Facebook también (y en español) no encuentra un nuevo público. We are currently repairing the front windscreen, it has minor scratches. It's hard to find a front glass of javelin in good condition?

I bought a windscreen repair kit years ago but have never used it. Maybe I will have a go on P.P.s car.

I don't know whether this will be useful. The free translation sites don't seem to be absolutely accurate in their translation of English, but perhaps are near enough.
If you use Google Translate to turn a piece of English into,for example, Spanish, when you copy the Spanish translation back into Google Translate, and turn it back into English, it isn't exactly the same piece you typed.
Any other opinions?

I'm with the opinion of Tony, translation services are pretty bad, but as specific topics can be understood correctly to get a general idea. The forum is English-speaking, that's of course.
This weekend will install the front windscreen in the javelin, everything will be fine.
It is possible to manufacture a crystal "modern" mold shape javelin model?
I have seen internet sales, but not seen the state of the surface, not to mention the danger of transportation ...

Moises, PP is Peter Pfister as you no doubt gathered from the previous post.
Regarding posting not in English. Putting your question or response in your own language hopefully says what you mean. Although , of course, that is not always the case as you may not be able to express the idea even in your own language when dealing with mechanical things. You might not know the proper term for a component or technique in your own language. The translation too may have problems when literally translating. Even Americans and Engish people have problems sometimes (see the translation table elsewhere in this forum)!
If you also offer a translation alongside the other language then at least it is a start which others can improve. It will also show where misunderstandings might occur. This also helps people when responding as they can modify their language to use terms which are more likely to be understood and say the same thing in a number of ways to aid communication. Many people use poor grammar when writing on the Internet as they use 'Internet' speak or 'Short Message text' speak that they have beeen used to using in mobile communications. This plays havoc with translators!
We have enough people on this forum with enough languages between us to assist. We do not want langauge to be a barrier to using this forum. So a Spanish speaker without English knowledge should feel encouraged to post in Spanish. The Forum software itself is multi-lingual, although I have no idea how good it is at that! Thus all screens and instructions can be in your own language. However, I have not translated the customised messages such as the heading at the top, but the facility is there within the software for me to do it if someone translates those messages.
The forum will remain mainly in English, although we could have a Spanish, German or French section where all posts are in that language. This would show we welcome all from 'THE REST OF THE WORLD'.

I very much doubt there will be many Spanish-speaking people looking at a specific Spanish section of JowettTalk.
Moises has posted 48 times, (in good english), out of a total of 14,912 posts for the whole site. Is he the only Jowett owner in Spain?
The total number of topics to date is around 2,670 and Moises has been involved with a very select few of them.
Our new young member, Marcel in Germany, is also using english very well, and apart from one or two words, can make himself understood.
Perhaps, if members answering posts to people whose first language is not english would try to keep colloquialisms and flowery language to a minimum, the Translation sites might be better served. Just think about what you are typing when you post, and do it in the simplest form in this scenario.
As English is accepted as the language of the world, surely it would be of more benefit for the non-english speakers to have to learn the english names of 'mechanical things' that Keith mentions.

I totally agree, it is absurd to write in Spanish for my father or vice versa. My father is a member and owner of Jowett, we understand the unique of Spain.
Once I contacted one of the most popular magazines in our country classic cars (motor clásico), and I was informed that there was another Javelin in good condition, but its owner was anonymous, a little mysterious and did not know it anymore. More years ago we saw one in Salamanca, the engine would not turn and the state of the bodywork was bad and the owner asked for more money than one state of Exhibitions ... do not know where he is now, perhaps the anonymous restored it.
