Jowett wanted for photoshoot in Yorkshire

Post by JulianDyer »

Hi everyone, my name is Julian Dyer and I am a Commercial Photography student from Wakefield in West Yorkshire. I do a lot of motorsport and automotive photography, both with digital and traditional film, and I need some help with my current assignment!

I want to photograph a classic car (ideally a Jowett Jupiter or Javellin) to create a magazine article mockup in a style similar to Classic and Sports Car. Is there anyone on here, preferably in the Yorkshire area who would be willing to let me photograph their car? I'd be more than happy to supply a full set of professional prints for you trouble.

There are some articles about my photography on my website, which you can see here: http://www.footlambert.co.uk/ or on my Flickr here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/footlambert/

If you could help me with this, or know someone who could, please post some details, as I would be eternally grateful.

Hi Julian,

Two things - firstly can you PM me an e-mail address and phone number that we can contact you on. I will send out a note with our monthly newsletter asking for help from local members, but this is due to go out within the next couple days, so please do not delay.

Secondly if you would be interested, and the photos turn out well, I am fairly sure that I could get these published in one of the classic car magazines with an article about the car. Not sure if this would help with your assignment, but there are always magazines interested in quality pictures of our cars. I doubt they would pay for the pictures, but as you are doing the work anyway the publicity for an aspiring photographer might be a bonus, and you would retain all rights to the images.

Jack.

Hello Julian.

I saw your request last Sunday on this site, and passed it on by personal email to our Press Officer, Noel, just before midnight.

i had a return email to say that Noel had read the email about 9.30 am Monday, so between Noel and Jack I sincerely hope we can accommodate your request.

Keep us in the loop please.

Tony.

P.S. For future reference, only one 'l' in Javelin.

Leeds City College are currently restoring a Jowett Javelin at the South Leeds site. The car was at the NEC last November. Photos of the car and the work being done are at: http://s1293.beta.photobucket.com/user/ ... t/library/ . I am sure you would be welcome to visit.

Hello again Julian.
Did you ever arrange your photo-shoot?

I see that you have a post in the Javelin section. It's quite busy usually, so there'll probably be some replies shortly.

Now that you have joined the Club, it might just be worthwhile going to one of the Northern Section monthly meetings, where you'll find several Javelin owners.

Keep your eyes on the Sales and Wants adverts at the back of the monthly Jowetteer magazine.

Tony.

Hi Tony,
Unfortunetly I did not manage to arrange anything including a Jowett, but I did arrange something at Longstone tyres. This was such a long time ago now!
