Christmas Greetings from Fire-savaged Victoria

Post by Andrew Henshall »

Dear Jowett Friends from all over,

On behalf of the Jowett Car Club of Australia, I would like to wish you all a merry Christmas, a safe holiday, and a happy New Year.

Please think of the many fire-fighters working in >38C temps for weeks on end fighting the more than 1,700,000 acres of bushfires presently raging across Victoria. We are suffering from very serious water shortages, during extremely hot & dry weather, and yet there are still arsonists out there deliberately lighting fires in the bush - can't understand it myself. Visibility across Victoria is down to ~2 km due to the smoke - worst conditions in more than 25 years - and this is just the start of our summer.

Take care,

We have nightly reports on the news in NZ, been following close.
All those homes and families burt out...coming up to Christmas to.

There are Volunteers from NZ, States to help out.
Bad luck on the Kiwis getting hurt, dangerous job, and not the 1st time some of these guys have been across to help out.

I remember the big fires in the late 60s, our skys in NZ went red.

All the best to u guys over there

Merry Christmas.

Visibility in the UK is down to 20metres and Heathrow is closed for all domestic flights. Not smoke; but freezing fog. -3deg C. , have just taken 2 hours to feel my way home!
Hope your problems dissipate soon and you can get on with having a festive Christmas.
