7 Front Axle question.

Dad and I have been working on assemblying the front axle for my 7 build.
Its axle had been dismantled many years ago so we couldnt remember how extactly it went back together.
So we go so far and hit a snag.
Part of the brake lever thingys rub on the I beam (were the springs attach to the axle).
We then relised the axle should be around the other way. There is clearance on the other side as can be seen in the pics.
Do you think it would be ok to just remove abit of metal for clearance?
The king pin locking pins are well and truely stuck in place now. And Probably would be damaged trying to remove them.

Hi.

I've taken a few photos for you which are attached. There is clearance as you can see at both sides of the spring bed on the axle. Perhaps a loosening of the pinch bolt and a slight tap sideways might help.

When everything is back together, the yoke should lean towards the front of the car so that when the brake is applied, it pulls backwards towards 90 degrees, which will give it maximum benefit.

As you can also see from the photos, looking from the front of the car, the yoke also leans into the mid-line. The brake rod from the yoke to the cross tube should be
(I think) parallel to the chassis.

Ive had to do this with mine about a year ago or too now, I'd stripped down the axle, didnt label anything, and had fun and games putting it back together, in the a end a couple phone calls to TF which was quickly remedied now I remember as rule is that the axle usually goes with the cotter pin holes the smaller end to the front. so the angle of the king pin is slightly forward as I remember though I could be wrong but the cotter pin direction was always a good indicator for me as i think it was set that the cotter pin nut doesnt come undone if your facing foward, well thats how I always remember it anyway. Also don't forget the wedges if they need them. There should a be a post about if from others in one of my questioned topics

Thankyou Tony and Alan for your help.
Desided it was easier to swapping both stub axles around.
Now the brake levers both move with out felling the spring bed.
