Bradford Crown Wheel Pinion fits Fiat!

Post by Forumadmin »

I understand that a Bradford CWP is a possible replacement for the existing one in my FIAT model 509. Are there a choice of ratios and is there a drawing I can check before actually buying one. I was told by a guy in New Zealand so I have to be sure he is right!!

Bradford back axle ratio 4.89 - 1 which with 500x16 tyres gives 15mph per 1000rpm in direct. top gear. No alternative ratios. As to fitting a Fiat 509 Iwould be very suprised as the Jowett axlw was made by Jowetts and was not a proprietory bought in item. I suppose its possible that the entire Bradford aaxle could be used on another vehicle provided the track is the same width more or less and that girling rod operated brakes & same wheel centres were required. It may be thisthat th guy in NZ was aluding to but o taht basis there may welb a veriety of axles that could be made to fit.
