On the Monday following the annual Wakes weeks holiday in Accrington - i.e. the first week of August 1962, several far-sighted Jowett owners, who were 'not from the south' met in the Methodist Chapel in Bacup, Lancashire, and inaugurated The Northern Section of The Jowett Car Club.
That was 50 years ago in a few months. Are we to have a celebration?
Tony.

Re: THE GOLDEN JUBILEE OF THE FORMATION OF THE NORTHERN SECT
Tony,
I think Bob Mercer was at the initial meeting but not sure if anybody else who was at that meeting is still around. & still in the club. Kathy fishwick (Watson as was ) might have been an 'original' but don't know whether she is still around.
If my memory serves me a 'batch' of us joined within two or three meetings of the inaugural one following a notice in the Manchester Evening News inviting Jowett owners to join the Northern Section of the Southern Jowett Car clubi n a run from Stockport to Chatsworth House. Was this your first or were you an 'original'. I think David Ellis, Gordon Brook, and myself took part in the Chatsworth run and as a result joined the club. Hv I missed anybody out?

Has anybody copies of the club magazine at that time? Mine go back to January 1966. Perhaps scan them and put them in the Gallery.....
