We plan to go by car but this trip by coach is worth considering as it is only £135 travel, hotel and B&B included. They recommend only going for a day as you get tired out walking the halls. I think I agree.

They will even pick me up outside the door as the firm is in Watford. Anybody who wants to go can stay at my place or the Premier Inn a few hundred yards away. Some things to consider... Leave KL at 4:40 a.m. on Sat 24th arrive in Essen with 3 course evening meal. All Sunday at show. Arrive back in KL at 02:00hrs Monday morning.

They also do a 3 day trip to the Paris show in Feb at £155 which we may do next year.

Note that the coach is full of Claassic car buffs, many of whom have done the trip for years.

Peter - We have to yet book our hotel but as soon as we do I shall advise you of which hotel it is - we are planning on arriving on the Friday 23rd - Show on the Saturday and return home on the Sunday so we shall be at the hotel Friday & Saturday - it would be great to see you.

Jack is thinking that five in a car may be a squeeeeze, so if 1,2 or 3 more people would like to join us then please contact. The plan is to leave Kings Langley and can catch the overnight ferry on Thurs 22nd March. It leaves Harwich at 23:15 hours so we need to be leaving our end of the country not much later than 18:00 hours - it sails overnight and arrives in Rotterdam at 07:45 hours Friday - Essen is 130 miles on - gives us time to breakfast - chillout - book into the hotel - have a look around Dusseldorf and a nice evening meal - do the show on the Sat - chill out in the evening - breakfast and a steady trip to the ferry on the Sunday which sails at 14:30 - arrives at 20:00 hours - so we should be home before midnight.

Costs for the car + 5 adults is £130 out & £107 return - cabins are compulsory on the evening ferry + we can get some sleep - cabin prices are single £30 inner deck no window/ £39 outerdeck with window, double cabin £43 inner deck / £51 outer deck

So even with the posh cabins and £80 for fuel, costs are about £90 each + the hotel

Tickets to the show are 20 Euros - it is the largest classic show in europe - 17 halls !! with 1 hall dedicated to restoration techincal practice alone - 2,500 cars for sale - lots of other things - 200,000 visitors over the 5 days.

We need to know by 1st Feb if you are coming. or even sooner as hotels are going fast.
