Last weekend whilst at the restoration show at Stoneleigh - we came across another Jowett owner purely by accident on one of the tradestands - we just happened to overhear him asking the stallholder about parts for a Javelin - turns out in conversation he is not a member of the club but has managed to restore 2 Kestrels and is half the way through a Javelin restoration - all without being a member of the club. Now I appreciate that it is not compulsory to be a JCC member should you own Jowett but we as a club can not rest on our laurels and just assume that just because someone owns a Jowett model that they will automatically join the club. i.e. membership by default
Ideas in order to maintain / recruit membership are always welcome - so if you have any ideas please do not hesitate in responding or contacting your section secretary

Re: MEMBERSHIP MATTERS
Chris.
Good to see you at Stoneleigh Restoration Show last Sunday with Keith, Amy and Joe (our Club’s newest member) at Bob and Mo’s trade stand within 2 minutes of the prescribed hour of 2pm.!!
My feeling is, that in this day and age, anyone who is restoring, or running an old or classic motor car, given the publicity of the old car movement these days, and isn’t interested in joining the marque’s Club is perhaps rather eccentric.
Occasional people seem to take great pride in telling us that they’ve no wish to join a Club, and just bumble on, on their own way. So be it.
But we have, as far as I’m aware, a leaflet promoting the Club, which perhaps those of us who attend these shows might just need to have one or two about us, for such a situation.
Many years ago, when there were more Jowetts on the road, or more specifically parked up on a road, members used to carry a postcard-size invitation to join the Club
which was pushed under the windscreen wiper of any Jowett at the side of the road.
I don’t know how effective this was, or if indeed it was useful, but someone else might comment on this.
I would think that he was “one (of not many) on his own.”
His loss, and I don’t have any sympathy for him. He doesn’t know what he’s missing.
Tony.
