Sunday, July 24th - The following information has very kindly been supplied by
Mike Cross: Our meeting for July 24th is at the Great Eastern Rally organised by the
Daimler and Lanchester Owners Club at Ingatestone Hall in Essex. Although originating
in 1974 at Hatfield, this annual event has been held at Ingatestone since 1997. A
considerable number of cars of all makes, shapes and sizes are represented including
Jowetts, which ensures a very interesting free day out. There are competitions to take
part in, an auto jumble section and some beautiful gardens to explore. The tea room and
toilets at the house are available to us from 10am. Entrance to the very splendid Tudor
house itself is not until 12 noon and costs £6.00 each or £5.00 concessions. The gift
shop also opens at 12 noon for those so inclined. The gates open at about 9am but you
can turn up when you like. Ingatestone is about half-way between Chelmsford and
Brentwood on the B1002. To get to the venue, turn south at the London end of
Ingatestone High Street into Station Lane and continue over the level crossing for about
half a mile. Attendance plaques can be ordered on the day. Any questions to Mike

Bank Holiday Monday, August 29th - Ashwell Show, Ashwell, Hertfordshire.
Dave Stimpson has sent me the following information which he has received from the
organisers of the Ashwell Show and they have told him that they would welcome a
display of cars from the Jowett Car Club:
“It is approaching Ashwell Show time again and as usual we would like to have a
display and subsequent parade of veteran and classic cars and would like to invite you
with your Veteran, Vintage or Classic car to join us. Please note that the ‘age’ limit for
the cars is no youngsters under 20 i.e. Pre-1991 cars! The format for this year will be
much the same as previous years – a larger roped compound than last year to park, picnic
and display the cars in, and a demonstration in the main ring some time after lunchtime.
Please arrive by lunchtime.” (Mr Stimpson continues with a note requesting that entry
forms be returned in advance, not on the day which, of course, cannot be appropriate
to Jowetteer, so we’ll continue with Robert’s report: -Ed.). If you would like to attend
