Reminders from JowettTalk

Post by Forumadmin »

There has been some discussion already and so I have changed the letters and frequency of the reminders that I hope meet your approval.

Firstly, let me say that I see benefit as registered users who no longer wish to participate have asked to be removed and this means the user list is more accurate for communication. Also users have been prompted with their username and have subsequently logged on, so they have remained in touch and picked up their private messages. They might also have checked their email address so that we can continue to contact them.

JowettTalk maintains a list of users that have activated accounts but never actually logged in after activation. 82 out of 375 Users (21.87% of all Users) are in this category. The system sends the reminder 20 days after registration. There is no point in registering if you do not log on, so this is a useful check the process has completed. The usual reason is the email address is not being read.

JowettTalk maintains a list of users that have zero posts and have registered over 30 days ago. 193 out of 375 Users (51.47% of all Users) are in this category. The system sends the reminder 30 days after registration. We really would like new users to introduce themselves!

JowettTalk maintains a list of users that have not logged in for more then 90 days. They are classed as inactive. 182 out of 375 Users (48.53% of all Users) are in this category. This is a prompt for users to check they can still log on and have not forgotten their credentials. It also prompts to look at PMs and maintain their email address in the User Control Panel.

JowettTalk will send second reminders 90 days after the first reminder for not logged on users, no posters and inactive users. The system shows when users were reminded and what for, if they have logged on and if they have been sent a second reminder. This second reminder (and all the others) should be a lot more friendly now. So let me know if you still get one saying you may have your account deleted. The system now asks to send a request if you want to be deleted from the forum. We have had about a ten asking this, perhaps because they had something to sell.

A list of users not to be reminded is also maintained.

Further investigation has shown that many reminders are giving undeliverable responses. I am now starting to inactivate those accounts for users who have never logged on, so if users want to rejoin they should send a request via jowett.org and the account can be reactivated.

Note that the above users have never used JowettTalk (although they may be still reading it). They do not have a valid account anyway as their email address is not working.

The users below are those that have never logged on, probably because they gave an incorrect email address and did not get confirmation of registration. So if you are one of those users please contact the webmaster. We do not want to loose you! Some may be duplicate accounts that are not used.

The accounts will be deactivated as a security measure; but can be reactivated on request.
