Re: 1929 long 2
I’m considering selling the car for a new project. It’s been rewired, retrimmed, has started rebuilt and also had a recored rad plus new oil
Seals and drive coupling for rear axle. And despite all that, I’m only looking for £7.5k for it (firm). Let me know if you’d like to chat! Paul 07908892230

Re: Bradford engine in a pre war
Thanks folks! I was considering whether to have something sitting on stand by - think I probably just need to bite the bullet some time next year and rebuild my engine. That said, it performs very well currently. I’m planning on a fairly long and arduous trip the following Feb so this is me debating...

Bradford engine in a pre war
How much work is it to fit a Bradford engine into a prewar 7hp? I’m wondering if it’s worth having one sitting to one side as a temporary unit if I ever have any issues with the current engine. Interested in others experiences!

Re: 1929 long 2
A quick update, after quite a few issues I’ve finally got the radiator back today and fitted. Haven’t had the car out on the road with it fitted yet but she sat on tick over for an hour this evening so feeling happy!

Re: 1929 long 2
Thanks Chris - will have to plan a trip! In the meantime, now back home and my chassis number is I assume from 1928/29?!

Re: 1929 long 2
Hi Chris Where in the country are you? I’m going to investigate the crank breather and see if it is clear or blocked and if no joy, will probably do as you suggest and make something up. I’d be interested in seeing your car, particularly the hood frame and dimensions. I’d love to find an original ho...

Re: 1929 long 2
Ian I’m still considering taking the engine out this winter. I wonder if the starting handle breather has a some sort of gauze over it which could presumably be blocked. If I do take it out I will Take photos of each stage.

Re: 1929 long 2
Thankyou...I assume it’s had an engine change then and that it isn’t an earlier car? Will look for other numbers once I’m home and also dog out and check the chassis plate number. Thanks Paul

Re: 1929 long 2
The car is at my parents house in Kent currently and I’m in north London and about to go on holiday for two weeks so will check when I get home as I haven’t got it to recorded here. I will run it up next time I’m home too and put my hand over the breather - oil pressure seems about right on the gaug...

Re: Prewar parts wanted
I’ve just posted some pics in the pre war section of where I think the breather should go on my engine. I think I established last night with Michael at Jowett spares, that it shouldn’t have the stack type so interested in views or alternative pics showing the leather flap arrangement. Thanks Paul

Re: 1929 long 2
Hey folks So having now spoken to Jowett spares, attached is a pic of the arrangement on my engine. I need to check if the engine is breathing via the starting handle or not. If it isn’t, I need to work out what the arrangement for the breather should look like. Is this where the leather flap would ...

Re: 1929 long 2
Ian...unfortunately the rad is the core type and has a double row. I think it was original to the car so I’ve gone with a like for like replacement but I can confirm it ain’t cheap!! Should be ready in 3-4 weeks. I’ve actually decided to put the Alps off until the following February as I’d like to g...

Re: Prewar parts wanted
Thanks chaps - yes that thread was where I first glimpsed what I was missing! I’m now a fully paid up member so will be getting a breather. The radiator is currently away being recored too
Thanks
Paul
