Re: Jupiter Rear Shock Absorbers

First thanks again Scott for the Monroe ref - bought and fitted a couple of ref: 32207 (Plenty on e-bay from UK suppliers though made by Tenneco USA - I think they are used on some Jeep models) and they seem good. Supplied with PU bushes and correct size metal spacer for top mount. Have been on a te...

Re: Jupiter Rear Shock Absorbers

Thanks for info - Monroe 32207 looks about right. I will get underneath and do some final checks/measurements before order - they are available on- line. Car was in body off condition a few months ago and all bushes and everything else checked as noise (seems to just behind drivers right shoulder) w...

Jupiter Rear Shock Absorbers

Does anyone have a reference number for the Monroe rear shocks ? I have an old note of R1045 which are widely available with min length 250 max length 392 but cannot remember if this is definitely for the Jup/Jav. Trying to eliminate an occasion knock on sharp bumps and having checked all else am le...

Re: Jupiter front torsion bar

The query in my mind re geometry is that to get to the next flat on the torsion bar for assembly it would actually take a total of 45 deg ( not 22.5 as my earlier post?) further angle between the spring arm at its lowest without the runner stop, and the adjuster - and I cannot quite envisage how to ...

Re: Jupiter front torsion bar

Keith - thanks for your thoughts - would be interested to know if there is any 'set' in any bars!

Re: Jupiter front torsion bar

Hi Drummond and it is re-assuring that the issue has cropped up elsewhere if only to suggest I may not have got it wrong on this one. Have done other Jup/Jav torsion bars without any problem! Fortunately the ride height is just about ok as now with max adjust on drivers side - am tempted to await an...

Re: Jupiter front torsion bar

Thanks for this - most points mentioned had been checked - I cannot envisage getting another 22.5 deg on assembly as everything was already as far down/over as possible with then adj arm touching the chassis - needed a crowbar on the adj arm to ease the pad back in! Only area I'm not clear of is the...

Jupiter front torsion bar

Any advice on following puzzle welcome. Drivers side front torsion bar on my Jupiter has always been at max adjustment - right up to diagonal chassis member - in order to just about obtain ride height. I have some time ago replaced all spring arm bushes and checked all chassis straightness and chass...

Re: Michelin X tyres

Have recently put new Michelin X Radials on my Jupiter fitted and balanced by Longstone, and they are excellent. They are a radial tubed tyre though so even if you have tubeless rims (as on batch of wider wheels made for Jupiter some years back) you will need innertubes fitted, but Longstone are kno...

Re: 1950 Javelin Project No Reserve Auction 25th Oct

I have been contacted by a gentleman in Slough area who is interested to buy/restore a Javelin currently for sale in Wraysbury (area subject to Thames flooding so not sure if this is reason for sale) for £2000.00 From description as a car with an ------A registration this would appear to be the same...

Re: Jupiter Rear Axle conversion Salisbury 3HA to 4HA

Hello Vic. Let me speak with Tony to see what work he is happy to take on - I say this because the work he did for me was done in his own time between running his busy garage, working to the detailed drawings and dimensions which I specified from measurements on my axles and with me muttering over h...

Re: Jupiter Rear Axle conversion Salisbury 3HA to 4HA

Hi Drummond I did at least with the noisy 4.11 (37:9)set in the original axle have the chance to test this ratio over quite a few hundred miles as I tried unsuccessfully to bed them in. It was good in that although there may be the the need to use first for start off a bit more often when hill start...

Re: Jupiter Rear Axle conversion Salisbury 3HA to 4HA

I am happy to share all info learned (and photos) in the process of doing this along with potential parts suppliers - however, once I had worked out what was needed, so much time was spent sourcing e-bay donor units that it would not be practical to offer a complete upgrade service - it can take a t...

Re: Source of Javelin front shockers?

Just another thought having just re-done everything on my Jav front suspension. I was concerned at running without the bump stops as the track rod ends on one side appeared to get disarmingly tight when the wheel on full drop. I removed the bump stop plate, got small sheet of 12mm thick nitrile rubb...
