I have a 47 Bradford marked on the plate as a CA. I am pretty sure the engine is a CB (the fuel pump has a foot type lever and not a separate rod). I need to order a new Y pipe for it and need to know which it is. Am I correct.

if the engine plate says CA then it should be just that. If the body plate says CA and dthe engine is a CB the Engine plate should state CB.

the CA, like the pre war engine has chain driven dynamo and csidedraught carb in front of timing case behind radiator. CB has belt driven dynamo and downdraft carb mounted above engine.

as far as I am aware there is no diference as far as Y pipe between CA & CB

Many thanks for the reply I have now worked out the engine is a CB having the belt etc. I got the Y pipe but the holes on one arm are at the wrong angle. I have tried to bend it with a blow lamp. No luck so am looking for someone local with gas. Nothing is ever straight forward.
