Does anyone know the identification of the starter solenoid fitted to a 1953 Javelin.
Thanks

Chris is correct, just about any solenoid will work. Two of the many the part numbers are 76464 or 76411. Same unit on Jag, MG and others from the same period. The push button goes away at the advent of the 60s, but the units are correct. My Jav has a Ford unit from the 60s.

Thanks both for the information. The problem was intermittent, the solenoid would make a noise but failed to get the starter to work. Checked continuity across the battery and starter poles by pressing the rubber button, passed test. Ignition on press rubber button still have noise and no starter. Today I took a closer look and found the red/ white wire was to earth and the pole that the red/white should connect too had an earth wire attached. Changed wires over and seems to work, what’s odd is the car has been like this since Chris helped me buy it and only started playing up last week. I will order a new one on Monday night from JCS just in case, want to have the car running for 28th.
