Zenith 30VM metering blocks

Here is a shot of a couple variations of the metering blocks from Zenith 30VM. Note some have passages to the right and others to the left. Also, two of the blocks have an additional brass jet inserted above the three metering holes. These have a small hole that opens just above the atomization ledge on the opposite side of the metering block. All theses blocks had an appendage soldered to the ledge, although I have others that do not.

My questions are:
Should both carbs in a set have the same style metering block?
Why do some have different horizontal passages if the bowls are all the same?
Why do some have the brass insert?

Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Scott

Hello, yes both of the metering blocks must be the same. I believe the two brass jets are fitted to carburettor with accelerator pumps.
