New Classic Car Show Manchester

Post by aj4cks »

Hi all,
I have been offerd space for 4 Jowetts. Greg and I are taking our jupiters. Would love to have 4 Jupiters on show to celebrate the clubs 90th but would welcome interst from 2 owners of any Jowett to join us. It is an indoor event sponsored by Footman James. We need to promote the Jowett name and high profile events like this are ideal to maintain the momentum from the NEC. iT IS UNDER SECURE COVER AT AN EXHIBITION VENUE WITH EXCELLENT SECURITY.
More information can be found via this link http://www.manchesterclassiccarshow.com/
If intersted contact me via email - aj4cks@aol.com.

The lack of interest has been disappointing. Apart from my brother, I have recieved no posts from members on the site. I appreciate its at the same time as the AGM BUT THE SILENCE HAS BEEN DEAFENING. We need to grow as a club, attracting new blood, otherwise we will slowly fade away.
A supporting post would have helped my motivation, as it is I will have to contact the organiser to let them know there will be just 2 cars representing the oldest one make car club in the world. I have egg on my face.

Tony - Not all members read the forum but I fully appreciate your points and have come up against the same issues before today - it might help if you called a couple of the stalwarts in the North West - David Mason springs to mind (Sorry David) - or the secretary / chairman for the Section should be able to suggest some cars / members for you.

Thanks Chris, Dave Mason and Tim Brown have sent me their apologies as they are at the AGM. I have contacted secretaries from the NW,N and Midland sections with no response or acknowledgement so a bit pissed off.

Having worked in marketing for a little while and having tried to organise events, I know getting a response out of anyone is hard work! If you are lucky some may respond within a couple of days of an event, most will not commit months in advance. The Jowetteer requires long lead times and my guess is that 50% of the members do not actually read and even less remember what is in it and even less act on what they have read. But that is no different to any other communication, except a telephone call.

I have recently used a new service that emails members within a given radius of an event with some success. The email is personal so gets most people's attention. It can also be timed to communicate at the best time for the event and act as a reminder to back up the printed notification that may have been filed away and forgotten.

To use the service I need an event name and date, the organiser's contact details, some text encouraging the receiver to partake, and the radius in miles you think appropriate to aim for. Note that 60 miles is the maximum I would use as this would target 173 members for this event. I can also produce a list of members with contact details for the organiser in 'distance from event' order. Note that 103 0f the 173 members have given their email addresses to the club. I find that many whom I phone do have email addresses not listed. Of course some of the email addresses do not work, so I phone up and get the correct address.

One year on and now my recently twisted arm is on the mend!
So much so that 'Mary Ellen' will join others on the stand at the second Footman James Sponsored Manchester Classic Show this Saturday and Sunday 20/21 September 2014.
That's if I can find the place tomorrow. The easiest way is by motorway, but I'm having to use A and B roads, and wish that I had asked for a SatNav last Christmas.

It will be held again at Event City, (M41 7TB) which is just behind the Trafford Centre, so you can drop off your wife and credit card for a few hours, and spend a little bit of 'you time' visiting us on the stand and browsing the rest of the exhibition.

Tony.
