Jullian Crossley phoned this morning asking about how to remove the front torsion bar. So if anyone can add some advice please do so. I suggested using the tool below but I do not think it is as simple as that with a rusted in bar!
Julian is preparing the Jav for racing and the chassis is completely stripped ready for dipping. Just the damned bars left. I thought it sensible to remove the bar as the bushes my be affected by the acid treatment.

My experience removing the front torsion bars on a Javelin that had been sitting out in the open for years, says that it is not going to be easy, but they do come out! I was also able to get the front bars out of my Jupiter that had been in storage for 30 years.
I recommend you try my procedure: first use a heat cycle to break the bond at each end of the bar (using lowish heat so as not to affect the temper of the torsion bar), then application of a product called "Yield" made by Chemsearch (an excellent rust penetrant & release agent), then put as much tension on the bar as you dare using a puller with a high tensile 7/16 BSF bolt, plus at the same time hitting the bar at the front end via a soft drift with a sledge hammer.
