Jowett Car Club of NZ National Rally 2011
Ohakune
March 18 – 21 , 2011 NOTE THESE HAVE BEEN CORRECTED SINCE ORIGINAL POST
Ohakune has been chosen for next years rally as it is located centrally and a comfortable day run from Auckland and half a day from Wellington (and the South Island Ferry). It was also selected because of the other activities in this region to make it a worth while destination.
Ohakune is a quaint alpine village and has some pleasant local walks, a sealed road up this side of the mountain and has a park, small central area with cafes that you can easily stroll to. An interesting programme consists of the Concours and gymkhana, visit to the NZ Army museum and a drive up Mt Ruapehu to 5000 ft then the option of the summer chair lifts further up the mountain for lunch.
For overseas visitors it is less than two hours from Lake Taupo and a further one hour to Rotorua, both major tourist destinations when travelling to or from Auckland.
Overseas visitors will be welcome and we will give assistance wherever we can
