Jowetts in the press

Well, you may just have heard a little birdy mention something about Jupiter TTD 88 which has had a little coverage recently... but Napoleon is far from the only Jowett to have featured in the press in recent months.

This month's Practical Classics magazine has a copy of the same photo as is the cover of this month's Jowetteer, but in full page colour:

Then we saw a couple of surprises in some magazines we picked up at the Classic Motor Show this weekend. First up in November's Classic Car Mart magazine:

Interestingly, this is a follow-up from a twin-test the magazine ran in its September article - does anyone have a copy they could scan in? If not we'll contact them for a back issue as judging by the twin test in this month's edition it's likely to have been a several page affair.

Next up in this month's Classic Car Mart is this barn find from Rugby Classics - labelled in the article as a Curlew, can any pre-war experts confirm / deny?

Has anyone spotted anything else?

Amy - This is no Curlew - it is a Kestrel -and a very overpriced one at that £3,295 and it requires a complete restoration - I find hard to believe that members / Jowett owners are active in ownership for finanical gain but this project is way over the odds in asking price.

And More !! - Classic Car Buyer - which is a weekly - this weeks edition (17th November 2010) : On the front page is small image of the red Jupiter which was on the Jowett stand at the NEC, this is repeated in a larger format on page 45 and is titled '2010 marks the diamond jubilee of the Jowett Jupiter', if you look closely at the main picture of the show on page 44 the club's upright Jowett banner can be seen, but on page 19 is a fantastic period (nearly full page) image of a unique Jupiter bodied by the Swiss coachbuilder Carrossier. It is shown on their stand at the 1951 Geneva Salon - it would appear that the image has been obtained from the website http://www.stilltime.net so I am just about to sign off and go and have a look for myself. Please keep the reports coming in of press / news / features of the club / Jowetts - more to the point if you know of a publication that is willing to take copy please do not keep to yourself - let others know and something appropriate can be drafted and issued.

There's a fine bit of publicity in the New Zealand Vintage Car Club Magazine that has recently arrived in the mail. It's a two page spread with good colour photos and a potted history of the Marque along with information about the clubs. Bob Culver, who regularly writes and reviews in the NZ club's magazine "Flat Four", has written a compelling case for for people interested in old cars to "Consider a Jowett" as their first/next vehicle . . . . . a perfectly useable vehicle.

The magazine is not just for VCC members only, it's available on news-stands, book shops and libraries etc., so hopefully there should be a surge of interest and new members applying to join the JCC of NZ!
