The latest Jupitour was brilliantly organised by Howard Bryan who even devised a common spare parts list and even that was not enough as two items not on the list were needed, and both of these items were needed on the first Jupiour to Le Mans in 2000
The first item was a manifold needed when I stripped a thread and the second is the gearshift mechanism which sheared off at its base.
The third item we needed was a cylinder head as 2 failed but by cannibalising one car we managed to save another.
There is a big problem carrying any spares in a Jupiter because of lack of space(this is needed for the wife's dresses) but in future rallies I would be tempted to go back to my Le Mans list and take .
Petrol pumps both +ve and _ve earth ,Layrubs, brake linings,or shoes , brake cylinders , manifolds l and r ,and as I did a Hydraulic jack for lifting and pressing .
As there is now a shortage of gear change mechanisms and because they obviously break Drummond will modify a few from Javelins so that there are spares which will avoid the problems which Howard had see his FIRST blog
There was quite a lot of engineering /mechanicing done but generally cars are now much better prepared and Drummond, John Powter and Keith Clements did a wonderfull job at the roadside mending cars and the net result was that we only lost one car to recovery(and that one gave us its cylinder head)
Lessons from 2010 Jupitour.
