TWO DAYS of BRITISH CARS . . day one

Post by Leo Bolter »

I was invited to attend the Two British Car Days being held over this weekend . . .

Well, I went . . . but, the visit to the first day of the Two Day British Car events at Queen Elizabeth Park was "interesting" to say the least . . . the organisers had advertised it to car clubs and to the public with flyers and emails etc. but guess what! . . . . My car was the only one that turned up for the event, on Saturday!

Yes, one solitary car!

Must be a sign of the times . . . there was hardly any public there either, in spite of there being a tram museum, tram rides to the beach, horse rides and several other attractions! . . . The venue is excellent and is right beside the main highway, the day was perfect weather wise . . no wind, warm and high overcast.

I guess there's a "bright side" though . . . At least a Jowett car had a captive, if small audience!

Interestingly though, there was lots of travelling being done by "Joe Public", as State Highway One was very busy on the way there and also on the way home to Palmerston North . . . people were going somewhere . . . but not to the QE Park!

Hopefully "Day Two" turns out better for the hard working organisers. It probably will, as I won't be there ;-), but I believe at least two Central Branch Javelins (and crews) may be in attendance!
