Now that the rally season has drawn to a close. Which has been an epic summer of sunshine and driving. Now its quietened down I can get on with a few bits and pieces on that car that need more attention I also thought I would have ago at making up a "trunk" for the luggage rack on the back. As having looked at several cars at shows from the era I do like some of the accessories featured with motoring back in day. So I thought i would have a go at making one up and here are the results. My carpentry skills aren't brilliant but with the help of a set square and jigsaw . The hardest part was bending the plywood curve it for the lid. In the end made up a diy steam bag with a thick polyuthene bag, with a wall paper stripper hose pointed in side to steam the ply and then bend it around an old propshaft to make the curve. It seemed to work quite well. Hopefully neaten it up then plan on covering it in leatherette/leathercloth. Black on the outside and green on the inside(to match the interior when I get around too it.)

Hello Alan.
It's a dark and cold wintry night. It's raining 'cats and dogs'. You're on one of the lesser B roads, miles fom Chard. Oh dear!! You've got a puncture.
Can you get to the spare wheel easily?

Full marks for the carpentry though, especially the plywood bending technique.

Tony.

Here are a few photos which I shall be putting into the Jowetteer soon. I keep forgetting the deadline. A few photos from 2014s first outing on what seemed to be the first sunny spell in a while. You know its been far too long since you last drove when you searching around for the imaginary seat belt! And a brief memory lapse of pedal mix ups.
Also uploaded is a photo from a local photographer taken at a show back in September. One very fine lady sat with another glorious lady. Also a few more shots of the picnic rack trunk all mostly covered now slow progress as ever.

A few more detail things I'm sorting out at the moment is front number plate bracket which I'm considering changing the rectangular pressed number plate for individual letters as I think and notice in the brochure that the bracket follows the line of bumper and I'd like to sort it out so mine has this also. Also putting on a set of new windscreen washers to refill the holes. And sorting out a pair of matching wiper arms.

Ha Peter! She came with the photographer unfortunately. Though keep your eyes peeled when I find some willing volunteers for a period photo op.
