Keith, I did wonder that?

Jack,

Well Ive been to a car meeting/show, at the weekend meeting people, had a sign displayed in the window about the competition and have had a few positive responces as well as a couple of emails saying that people from the show had voted. So being out there with car I think has certainly helped too. Anything else I can be doing in preparation, let me know.

Hey guys has someone bought me an Aston and entered it without me knowing......Have a look, one of the shortlisted is me!
In your dreams !! - but hang about - I do have a spare Aston that you can have FOC - it's red - could do with a paint job but goes really well - I will bring it over when you get back from your tour of lesuire - it's not got the original box that it came in when new though - is that ok ?

Alan - Just adopt the stuck record trick - 'Have you voted for me yet' ? - Can you put up a poster at work or get one onto the notice boards of larger workplaces - a simple vote for Alan - pic of the car and few details should do it - I have done every single different IP address at work - I will ensure everyone at the exec meeting on the 22nd Sept is aware and will take some printed flyers with me to ensure they remember to vote - Much like Jack I have pushed several forums into action - some of which I have only just joined but hey it's produced votes !!

Now back from holidays, and back on the campaign trail.

Alan, I don't know how to explain this, but if you win (like come first win) I have to sellotape a panic button to your head and take a photo. Sorry, but it got you another vote. Don't ask. Start entering odd bets with your friends - it seems to be a good way of getting them to go on the internet and vote.

We managed to convince a couple of people in Gozo to vote for you, which is nice, they have lots of classic cars there - including a Rover Metro that looked far better than the one I had falling to bits more than 10 years ago!

Jack.

Alan, (and Jack),

I've alerted the New South Wales (OZ) crew to your bid for glory, and Bill Ebzery has asked Nezley to do a round robin email to all members, which include me , Noel and a few more poms as well as the indigenous Jowetteers. I've had a few replies about this, but I think that there'll be at least 30 more votes coming your way.

I presume someone has alerted the JCCA members.

Tony.

Dare I ask that is the question, but if we do reach the end result then yeah why not... Ive been posting on a few more forums and into a few more fb groups, with a few votes coming this way. only 10 days left now.

Tony, ive seen a link posted on the facebook page for the australian contingent, so I'd imagine some have voted. This is getting global, the more coverage

Reminder for everyone, we now have 6 days to close this out - please ask your friends, family and fellow club members to get online and vote.

Please explain why this is important to the club, and to Alan, who has been quietly working away on this car for some time and deserves your support.

1 day, 18 hours left to go. Please make sure you have done your bit, and confirm with everyone you have asked that they've done it.

No time to lose now, every single vote counts!

Jack.

28th September 2012 as I write this.

Four hours or so to the close of voting.

When will we know if all our efforts have not been in vain?

Tony.

Hi Tony,

From previous experience, they are very keen to get winners confirmed as attending the NEC - they recognise that it is only a few weeks away, and that arranging transport etc may not be easy for some in older vehicles travelling long distances. I would hope that they will be in touch before the end of the week to let Alan know how he has done.

Whatever happens, we've put a car in front of a much wider audience through the competition website, and probably got ourselves noticed by the journalists choosing cars for the shortlist, so it is already a success that hasn't cost us much more than a few hours of campaigning for votes.

Jack.

I have just this second well about 20 mins ago recieved a call from bauer media. To say that the Long Saloon has been shortlisted into the top 5 at the NEC. Well its just taken me about 20mins to get down from the ceiling. Absolutely astounded and amazed. Id like to thank everyone who has voted and for all your continued support throughout the restoration. Many thanks Alan

Brilliant!

Now if AMy's experience is anything to go by , this is when the real work starts.

Well done Alan for having a go in the first place, and to Jack for 'geeing us all up'.

Do we get to know just how many votes were cast for you Alan?

Tony.
